Pushing Daisies from Life In Pieces

The first Monday of the new year means back to work after two weeks of nothing much but a bit of around the house spiffing up and lots of stitching time.  I can't say I'm ready to go back, but working does support my fabric habit, so back I'll go this morning. Thankfully this week is light on meetings so I'll time to deal with left over 2020 stuff and get a handle on the 2021 stuff.

There was some good progress in the sewing room over the holiday break. I was able to sneak in ...

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 12/29/2020 from Life In Pieces

Last week was one of holiday preparations and celebrations. We had a very nice and relaxed Christmas. There wasn't much time for sewing, but I reduced last week's to do list to account for that.

Weekly To Do List (12/22/2020)

  • Daisy Chain: Make binding, trim quilt
  • Grassy Creek: Start clues 4 and 5 - progress
  • Unity: Finish clue 5, start clues 6 and 7
Two out of three isn't bad for what turned out to be a pretty busy week.  Even though there's not a check mark, there was still progress on Grassy Creek, which ...

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 12/22/2020 from Life In Pieces

It's that time of year where the days just seem to fly by.  I've been on vacation since last Friday, but I still have to check my work email and deal with any problems that come up. I've been trying to keep that to a minimum.  We've been hanging out, going for walks (the weather has been really nice for December) and I've been stitching a bit.  Not as much as I had planned, but I'm getting in a few hours each day.  There was good progress on last week's To Do List ...

Last Push for My 2020 PhD from Life In Pieces

I've been following along with Quilting Gail's 2020 PHD

The goal is to finish 12 UFOs, plus finish any quilts you start during the year (other then quilt alongs that won't finish before the end of the year). I'm not going to finish 12 quilts this year and I'm probably not going to finish the one quilt I started that doesn't carry over to next year.  Here's my report card so far this year.

There's one more finish on the list and one more new start.  But Grassy Creek, Bonnie Hunter's ...

November One Monthly Goal Complete from Life In Pieces

Usually we spend the week of Thanksgiving with My Guy's family. Like so many other families this year, we didn't go see extended family and they didn't come see us.  It was just the My Guy, the Scientist in Training and me at dinner today.  We've spent the week at home doing stuff around the house in the mornings, but that's left the afternoons and evenings pretty free for some extra stitching time.  Enough extra time that I was able to get my November One Monthly Goal finished up.

This month's goal was to ...

To DoTuesday for the Week of 11/24/2020 from Life In Pieces

There wasn't much blogging going on last week.  My schedule was just that nuts. Thankfully this week it's much calmer.  Though I didn't post last week, there was a to do list and I actually didn't do too bad. Thankfully I had the weekend to play catch up on those to dos.

To Do List for 11/17/2020

  • Red, White and Blue Stars: Continue adding borders
  • Morewood Mystery: Work on November Clue
  • Unity: Add next border, make flying geese - progress
  • Grassy Creek:  Pick fabrics

Check marks on three out four of is pretty good. And ...

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 11/10/2020 from Life In Pieces

Last week was one of those weeks.  It was hard to focus on much and even the sewing room was not enough of a distraction.  This week is going to be better, just busy. My meeting calendar is pretty packed for the next 2 weeks.  Even with the distractions last week, there was still some good progress on the To Do List.

To Do List for 11/2/2020

  • Christmas Mystery Quilt:  bind
  • Daisy Chain: Find a backing fabric
  • Red, White &Blue Stars: Add first border - progress
  • Unity: Finish Step 4, start step 5
Definitely a good week on the ...

November One Monthly Goal from Life In Pieces

It's the 7th, the last day to link up at Elm Street Quilts with my One Monthly Goal for November.

Which project do I pick?  The Christmas Mystery quilt only needs the binding stitched to the back.

It's a small quilt, so it will definitely get finished this month.  That would be an easy goal. Daisy Chain needs the back pieced, dethreading and a good pressing so it can go out for quilting.

I don't mind making the backing, but I always ...

PHD in 2020 Progress from Life In Pieces

Just two months left in 2020.  The end of the year always just flies by it seems.  As it's a new month it's time to take stock of the progress towards my 2020 PHD (projects half done)

The tracking sheet has been updated again this month, but this time in the right direction.

There's another check mark in the finished column. Storm at Sea is finished and has been much appreciated as the new quilt on our bed.

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 11/03/2020 from Life In Pieces

We are heading out earlier than normal today to get to our polling location when it opens. Even in our small community turn out was high for early voting, so we expect long waits even when the polls first open.

So I'll need to speed write this week's to do list.  Before I write the new list, I should look at how it went with the previous To Do List.

Weekly To Do List for 10/27/2020

  • Frolic: Prep quilt for quilting and mail

  • Christmas Mystery: Trim quilt, make label and binding

  • Red, White & Blue Stars: Continue ...

Stitching Along from Life In Pieces

I was definitely ready for Saturday to get here.  The plan is for a nothing but stitching day to celebrate the end of the work week and the beginning of October.  Just three months left in 2020. Though I will be glad to see the end of this year, there's not much time left to finish my 2020 PHD.

There is an update to my tracking spreadsheet, but it's not a new check mark in the finished column.

The Morewood Mystery quilt September clue had me cutting into the fabric to make last months blocks.  I count a ...

More Mystery Sewing from Life In Pieces

We spent the better part of Sunday on garden clean up. The garden looks much better, but I'm moving really slowly this morning.  Hopefully once I'm up and around, the stiffness will dissipate.  There was sewing room time in there too, just not as much as there usually is over the weekend.  Even so, there's been some really good progress on several projects.

Daisy Chain is now a finished flimsy.

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 09/01/2020 from Life In Pieces

This week has gotten off to a rocky start.  My Guy was really sick Sunday and Monday, thankfully the fever broke last night and he's feeling much better today. Even so, My Guy has to take a Covid 19 test this morning. Since his symptoms are such a close match for that virus, we can't go back to the office till he gets a negative result back. The company adopted that protocol to avoid community spread at work. That policy has been working, the company has had no instances of community spread at any of our offices or ...

To Do Tuesday for Week of 8/18/2020 from Life In Pieces

Hard to believe that August is more than half over.  I'm not sure where the last week went.  I did get in quite a bit of stitching time, though I didn't finish last week's To Do List.

Weekly To Do List (8/11/2020)

  • Storm at Sea: Prep top for quilting - progress
  • Frolic:  Finish borders
  • Unity: Finish step 3, start step 4 - progress

Only one to do checked off the list for the last week.  That's a pretty big check mark as it means another quilt top is finished. There was good progress on the other ...

2019 Finish Along: 4th Quarter Ambitions from Life In Pieces

The year of 2019 is winding down way faster then I'd like it too.  Now it's time to decide what can be finished in the three short months left in the year.  My third quarter ambitions for the 2019 Finish Along were a complete bust, zero, nada, zilch finishes for the quarter.  Is there any hope for fourth quarter finishes?

Maybe.  There were no finishes last quarter, but there was good progress on two or three projects. A shoe in finish is Vintage Dresses.
